Celebrate the holiday season with fellow alumni at the official FIT alumni holiday party hosted at The Webster!

The highlight of the evening will be an exclusive conversation between two luminaries of the fashion world: Fern Mallis, the award-winning creator of New York Fashion Week, and Francisco Costa, the celebrated Brazilian  designer, philanthropist, and FIT alumnus whose career highlights include a 13-year-long period as creative director of women's wear for Calvin Klein. 

Copies of Mallis' recently published Fashion Icons: Fashion Lives, featuring no-holds-barred interviews with the fashion industry’s most talented, successful, and iconic personalities will be available for purchase, and guests will have the opportunity to get their copy of the book signed by the author.

Ticket price includes entrance to the event, specialty cocktails/mocktails, René Briand sparkling wine, hors d'oeuvres, a 360 photobooth experience, and a special gift bag.

Francisco Costa is a Brazilian designer, philanthropist and FIT alumnus whose career highlights include a 13-year-long period as creative director of women's wear for Calvin Klein.

After his departure from the brand in 2016, Costa, an avid environmentalist, returned to his home country of Brazil where he discovered local healing rituals and an untapped wealth of curative native ingredients in the Amazon rainforest. After realizing quickly that there was an urgent need for conservation, Costa launched Costa Brazil, an eco-forward skincare and fragrance line made with natural ingredients. The brand works in partnership with local cooperatives and scientists, ensuring protection of both body and Earth.

Francisco Costa is engaged in numerous social causes in Brazil and around the world. He designed the logo for BrazilFoundation's #TeamRio campaign – an initiative raising awareness and funds for social projects in the city of Rio de Janeiro, at the occasion of the Olympic Games. His numerous awards and accolades include being the recipient of both the 2006 and 2008 Womenswear Designer of the Year award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), as well as the 2009 recipient of the Cooper-Hewitt National Fashion Design Award. During his studies at FIT, Costa's talents were recognized with an Idea Como/Young Designers of America award. 

Hailed as the award-winning creator of New York Fashion Week, Fern Mallis has been called an industry titan, fashion doyenne, and the godmother of fashion.

After two decades at the CFDA and IMG Fashion, she is now president of her own international consulting firm.  

Mallis is the recipient of numerous industry awards including the 2013 Fashion Industry Lifetime Achievement Award from the Pratt Institute and the 2013 FIT President’s Lifetime Achievement Award. She was inducted into Business of Fashion’s BoF 500 Hall of Fame in 2014 and serves on the board of the FIT Foundation.

For the last 11 years, Mallis has hosted the acclaimed and frequently sold-out 92nd Street Y conversation series Fashion Icons with Fern Mallis. She is also the author of the book series published by Rizzoli and sponsored by Nordstrom that chronicles these conversations.

Colors, American Express, and Skype in various formats from print advertisements and on-air to event hosting, and ambassadorships. She’s the on-air personality for Sunglass Hut and Cosmoprof. She also regularly speaks on panels, hosts press events and consults for advertising agencies and brands in the beauty space.
